Miss Caitlin says:

Poor Rodney can’t pronounce his R’s. His classmates tease him about it all the time and it makes him very sad. When a big, mean, know-it-all named Camilla Capybara decides to bully the class, Rodney saves the day with a game of Simon Says.

The thing about you that’s different is the thing that makes you special. Rodney’s classmates may have been picking on him for the way he speaks, but they certainly weren’t laughing when he got rid of their bully once and for all. Sometimes, people are mean and that’s not okay; but, eventually, people will see you for what’s special about you and that’s fantastic. If you stick it out like Rodney, everything will be better in the end.

Race to the Finish

Stanley Cup Champions

Congratulations to the Chicago Blackhawks! Before you head to the rally tomorrow, come visit the library and check out a book about your favorite hockey team.

Did you know:

  • Every 13 years a new ring is added to the Stanley Cup. When the Cup starts to get too tall, the oldest ring is detached and stored in Lord Stanley’s vault in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
  • Many of the names and teams on the Cup are misspelled. It’s too costly to fix the mistakes, so they’re usually left alone.
  • The Cup wasn’t awarded in 1919 because of an outbreak of the Spanish Flu. Instead that area of the Stanley Cup reads “SEASON NOT PLAYED.”
  • There are 12 women who have their named inscribed on the Cup.
  • Two babies have been baptized in the Stanley Cup.
